Keri

Dear Dad, it's only been 1 day and I miss you so much already. You were always there for me if I needed you, offering a sympathetic ear and an open heart. The kids have great memories of you, especially Devin who was blessed to know you longer (although Tyler is lucky enough to share your birthday). Devin reminded me today how you used to come over the house with little gifts for them saying "Surprise, surprise!". They loved that little bit of mystery and excitement and looked forward to spending time with you and listening to the stories you'd tell. And of course, we fondly remember how you got the nickname "Ah-ah". You would come to the house, and upon entering, hide somewhere inside. Then, the fun began. You'd say "Ah-Ah" from behind a curtain or tucked inside a door, and the kids would hear it from the back of the house and know a game had begun and it was time to find you. They started saying "Ah-Ah" every time they saw you, and the name just stuck. As a kid, you always loved taking me places, whether to the different parks in the area or to Grandma Biggie's where we always picked up a Piantedosi French bread on the way. You used to hand me the bag in the backseat and by the time we got to Grandma's house, it was completely hollowed out. I can still smell that bread and remember the look on your face when we arrived with only crumbs. But I really loved when we traveled further away from home - Arizona, Texas, Bermuda and so many more. I remember you taking me to New York for the day once. We decided at 7am that morning, hopped a flight on stand-by, went to the Empire State Building and all the sights and were home by 10pm that night. I think I still have the Michael Jackson pins I begged you to buy from that man on the street corner. At the time, that was the highlight, but looking back now, it was the time with you that made it great. We shared a love of sports too. You and I saw Doug Flutie's "Hail Mary" pass from our couch in the living room, and we used to collect the Celtics team photos from the Boston Globe every year. I would try to impress you by memorizing each player - their name, jersey number and exact location in the photo, row by row, for every year. And you and mom used to drive me and my friends to concerts (Stryper!) down in 'Woosta' where you'd have to wait like 4 hours in a coffee shop to take us back home. My friend's would say "Mr. Biggie, Mr. Biggie, that was amazing, thank you for taking us!" I loved how you would share your story ideas with me and tell me how the plot could unfold. And I would read you my poems and screenplay and get feedback. In a recent conversation, you actually remembered the first few lines of a poem I wrote when I was about 12, and I couldn't even remember it. You even wrote a poem for the kids too. And as I got older, I love how you and Brian bonded over completely different things. You enjoyed watching movies and comedies together, and talking history, all things I was never into but that you two shared in a very special way. We have so many great memories Dad, too many to list here, but know they are all in our hearts and will remain there forever. I love and miss you Dad. With all my love, your daughter, Keri
